The approach
Les Formations Modernes delivers operator training entirely on client sites in Quebec. It stands against card-mill certification: a card is not competency. Competency is theory, practical skill, safe judgment and mastery of the real work site, shown together.
For an employer, training is one part of due diligence: foresee the hazards, train and set written policies, then supervise and document. A valid certificate alone did not protect an employer whose supervisors tolerated unsafe operation.
Practical evaluation in the real work environment
CSA B335 sets four parts: operator qualifications, theory, supervised hands-on practice, and practical evaluation in the actual work environment. RSST Art. 261 ties operation to the equipment's rated capacity, its attachments and the workplace layout, which is why the evaluation takes place on site.
